LONG BRANCH, N.J. One of the most recognizable names in the
health club industry is coming to Long Branch, N.J. as operators of
Gold's Gym have signed a lease for a new state-of-the-art facility
at Pier Village, the mixed-use community under development here along
the revitalized oceanfront.
The new two-story health club will occupy 15,000 square feet of space
at Pier Village, reports Applied Development Company, which is developing
the community's 420 luxury residential residences and 100,000 square
feet of retail space.
Construction is already underway on the new facility, which is expected
to grand open early next spring.
"We're delighted to add Gold's Gym to Pier Village's growing
list of exciting retailers," notes Greg Russo, an Applied Vice
President. "We believe a high-end health club is a natural fit
for the type of vibrant lifestyle we're creating here."
The new Gold's Gym will be the third facility in Monmouth County opened
and operated by Mark and Karen Steinfield, joining gyms in Howell
and Point Pleasant Beach.
"We're excited to be a part of this great new beachfront community
which is at the heart of the area’Äôs revitalization," notes Mr.
Steinfield, who enjoyed a stint as president of one of the largest
fitness-consulting firms in the industry before returning to operate
Gold's gyms.
"This health club will be designed to match Pier Village's upscale
nature and will reflect the community's centralized lifestyle that's
fostered by providing a mix of recreational needs in a pedestrian-friendly
environment."
Found throughout the gym will be a cafˆ© offering healthy protein shakes
and sandwiches for fitness enthusiasts, two studios for Step, Kickboxing,
Yoga and Pilates classes; a wide mix of state-of-the-art Cardio Vascular
and Nautilus machines, and a Classic Gold's free weights station.
"We'll also be unveiling an innovative new Virtual Reality machine
that will be the first of its kind on the Jersey Shore," Mr.
Steinfield points out.
"We'll provide a friendly, experienced staff of personal trainers,
exercise instructors, nutrition counselors and sports massage therapists.
And while members will always enjoy spectacular views of the ocean
during their workouts, we’Äôre also planning on offering Spinning classes
and other group exercises outside, as well as potential walking and
running clubs -’Äì all designed to maximize our unique oceanfront location."
The Gold's Gym lease signing brings the total square footage accounted
for at Pier Village to 68,000, Applied's Russo points out.
"With an exciting mix of restaurants, fashion boutique shops
and a unique beach club, we're creating an upscale entertainment and
cultural destination that will be active 12 months a year," says
Mr. Russo, noting that the company retained nationally-renowned retail
specialists Williams Jackson Ewing to help achieve that goal.
" In addition to the collection of restaurants and cafes already
signed, we're looking at a gourmet Italian market, a Day Spa, an upscale
wine store, and various apparel and home furnishings."
Recreational and social activities will also play a role at Pier Village,
including live theater, concerts, farmers markets, arts & crafts
exhibits, food festivals, and holiday activities with ice skating,
horse-drawn carriage rides and decorations.
